Two cold concepts are combining to create a hot ticket in Jacksonville, Florida. That’s where Cold Stone Creamery™ franchise owners Carla and Ruben Aldridge are adding a Planet Smoothie™ to their busy store footprint.
“We opened in June 2017 and had a very strong first year,” Carla Aldridge explains. “But we have a very large space and wanted to maximize what we could do in our location. After looking at Planet Smoothie, we knew that the two brands could work very well together.”
Large space provides visible opportunity
The Aldridges’ Cold Stone operation uses about 2,500 square feet of the total store footprint, and is to the rear of the Planet Smoothie section in the shared space. The two franchises are in a highly visible location just a mile or so from the beach, Aldridge says, and the proven ability of Cold Stone Creamery to draw in afternoon and evening clients will be an early benefit.
“Cold Stone and Planet Smoothie appeal to different demographics at different times of the day, and we are very confident that each will boost traffic at different times of the day. And we are sure that the Planet Smoothie will not only support itself but also add more business to the Cold Stone.”
Community excited and eager for opening day
The location is two doors down from a Pilates studio, and there are multiple gyms within a half mile. The Aldridges have been promoting the Planet Smoothie ahead of its opening, and she says there is a lot of anticipation building.
“We are in a health-conscious area, and the brand has a very strong appeal to those people,” she says. “I think we are going to see them not just in the morning and midday, but also at dinnertime as they look for something to replace a meal or after a workout. Our Cold Stone regulars are really excited about what Planet Smoothie is going to offer.”
